Clough’s courageous Marathon finish
Three Counties Running Club Members travelled to Rutland to race in the half and full marathon event on Sunday.
Tim Clough raced the full marathon in memory of his Father who sadly passed away a few months previously. Tim was running extremely well on the hilly mixed terrain course until half a mile from the finish line he suddenly collapsed and fell unconscious. TCRC members Arthur Sargeant and Teresa Rodrigues who had already finished their half marathon ran back to find Tim and stayed with him in the ambulance until he was able to stand.
Tim with the help of his club mates managed to find enough strength to cross the finish line and complete the marathon in 4:54:22.
Tim and TCRC would like to thank all the medical staff and club members for their support.
The half marathon which was run on part of the full marathon route was again not on the flat side. First club member home was Arthur Sargeant equalling his PB of 2:00:49 followed closely by Teresa Rodrigues in 2:01:42. Phil Newton was the next club runner home. Phil didn’t have the best of starts when his hamstring popped at 250m into the race but he still managed a great time of 2:06:45.
Junior Parkrun again saw another good turnout of 31 runners. First club runner home in 2nd place and 1st female was Maisie Macdonald with a PB 8:55. Next followed Hayden Hall 9:18, William Durkin 10:46, Casey Grange 10:53 2nd Female, Rowan Coultard 16:17 and Laurence Durkin 25:02. Casey was also awarded her half marathon wristband and certificate for completing 11 Junior Parkruns.
